West Star Aviation is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift in Chattanooga, TN. The role involves troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, along with disassembly and reassembly tasks and inspections on civilian aircraft.

Qualified candidates typically hold a high school diploma, FAA airframe or powerplant license, and 0–6+ years of aviation maintenance experience.

Qualifications

  • Airframe or Powerplant license is required for each level (Amt I–IV) depending on experience.
  • Airframe license is preferred for higher seniority and roles.
  • 0–2 years for entry, 2–4 years for mid, 4–6+ years for senior maintenance.
  • 6+ years for master level with extensive corporate aircraft experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Remove and install panels and components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve aircraft system issues.
  • De-fuel aircraft as needed; assist in engine removal/installation.
  • Operate ground support equipment and inspect aircraft components.
  • Maintain shop facilities, equipment, and tooling; document work.

Bombardier Aircraft Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift - 1071

Our 2nd shift schedule is Monday-Thursday, 3pm-1am. The shift incentive includes a 10% -15% premium, paid lunch, 3 day weekends, formal airframe training and eligibility to transfer to 1st shift after 3 years.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including
  • Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Removal and installation of panels and components.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving aircraft system/component issues.
  • De-fueling aircraft.
  • Engine removal/installations.
  • Operating ground support equipment.
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components.
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/ taxiing.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling.
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Your Education

What you’ll need to bring with you: A High school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience
Amt I:

Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred. 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar. These technicians have limited to moderate knowledge of general maintenance aspects. Technicians require close supervision of general maintenance tasks.

Amt Ii

Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred. 2-4 years of experience working in aviation maintenance. Experience working on corporate aircraft is preferred but not essential. These technicians have considerable knowledge of the job and general maintenance aspects. Technicians require general supervision on routine maintenance and more detailed instruction for new or special assignments.

Amt Iii

Airframe license is required; in addition, Powerplant license is highly preferred. 4-6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance. Experience working on corporate aircraft is highly preferred but not essential. These technicians have full knowledge of general, detailed, and special assignments in aircraft maintenance.

AMT IV (Master)

Airframe and Powerplant license is required. 6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance. Must have extensive experience on corporate aircraft platforms. Subject matter expert in all areas of the job.

Your Sense Of Responsibility

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments. Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day. Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance. May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot. Work outside during aircraft runs will occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment. Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices. Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
