Job summary

Schuff Steel is seeking a Bolt purchasing agent to determine bolt and miscellaneous steel requirements for all jobs, purchasing materials on time using MRP systems, negotiating with vendors, and expediting orders to meet project budgets and schedules.

The role requires strong purchasing experience in steel fabrication, robust vendor management skills, and the ability to collaborate with project teams to resolve material issues and control costs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years purchasing experience in the steel fabrication industry.
• Experience with MRP systems and Purchase Orders.
• Strong vendor negotiation and expediting skills.
• Understanding of SOX buying requirements.
• Detail-oriented with budget tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Approves vendor invoices for bolts and misc products and confirms receipt.
• Assists in estimating bolt prices for estimating.
• Purchases bolts and misc products to meet budget and enters POs.
• Prepares weekly material status reports.
• Tracks budgets and expedites orders to align with schedule.
• Develops and maintains the JOB BUYING PLAN for each job.
• Expedites material POs and communicates issues to PM teams and site management.
• Follows up on bolt releases and vendor performance; supports vendor audits.
