Responsibilities

• Cut or drill holes for pipe passage.
• Assist in assembly and installation of piping.
• Supply necessary equipment to fitters.
• Monitor and maintain safety standards.
• Fit or assist in fitting valves, couplings, or assemblies to tanks, pumps, or systems using hand tools.
• Bolt, clamp and support components for welding.
• Assist with testing and flushing requirements.
• Keep fitter supplied with tools and equipment.
• Mount brackets and hangers on walls and ceilings to hold pipe and set sleeves or inserts to provide support for pipe.
• Disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe.
• Perform general housekeeping duties and keep work area clean.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

Position Description

Assists in assembling, analyzing defects in, and repairing boilers, boiler auxiliaries and ancillaries, pressure vessels, tanks, and vats in field, following blueprints and using hand tools and portable power tools and equipment. This will be completed in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible.

Job Responsibilities

• Cut or drill holes to accommodate the passage of pipe.
• Assist Pipe Fitters in the layout, assembly, and installation of piping.
• Supply pipe, elbows, flanges, hangers or supports to the fitter.
• Cut to correct length, bevel and thread pipe as directed.
• Fit or assist in fitting valves, couplings, or assemblies to tanks, pumps, or systems using hand tools.
• Bolt, clamp and support components for welding.
• Assist with testing and flushing requirements.
• Keep fitter supplied with tools and equipment.
• Mount brackets and hangers on walls and ceilings to hold pipe and set sleeves or inserts to provide support for pipe.
• Disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe.
• Perform general housekeeping duties and keep work area clean.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Preferred 12 to 24 months’ experience working in the construction field.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively.
• Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
• 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work.
• Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements.
