Job summary

Picou Group Contractors in Southeast Louisiana seeks an experienced Boilermaker to support industrial projects in the River Parishes, LA. This role involves assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels in a safety-focused industrial setting.

You will read blueprints and specs, fit and weld components, and coordinate with crane operators. A strong safety record and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of Boilermaker experience in industrial/heavy construction required or preferred.
• TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) required.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
• Basic Plus (Safety Council) certification required; can be obtained during pre-employment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications for boilers and pressure vessels.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, and repair boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels in industrial facilities.
• Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, drawings, and specifications to plan work.
• Lay out, cut, fit, and weld or bolt plate and structural components.
• Set and align boilers and components at heights, in confined spaces and varying conditions.
• Rig, move, and position heavy components with crane/hoist coordination.
• Inspect equipment for leaks, corrosion, and defects and repair as required.
• Maintain safe, clean work areas and follow safety procedures.
• Complete site and safety trainings and participate in toolbox meetings.

Job Description

We are seeking skilled Boilermakers to support industrial projects in the River Parishes, LA.This role involves assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and related heavy-metal structures in an industrial construction environment while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, and repair boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels used to contain steam, liquids, and gases in industrial facilities.

• Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute work in the correct sequence.

• Lay out, cut, fit, and weld or bolt plate and structural components using appropriate tools, equipment, and procedures.

• Set, align, and anchor boilers and related components, working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying environmental conditions.

• Rig, move, and position heavy components safely, coordinating with crane/hoist operators and other craft personnel.

• Inspect existing equipment for leaks, corrosion, and defects and perform repairs in accordance with project and code requirements.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company, client, and site-specific safety procedures.

• Complete required site and company safety training and participate in job safety analyses and toolbox meetings.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of Boilermaker experience in an industrial or heavy construction environment preferred.

• Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) required.

• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.

• Basic Plus (Safety Council) certification required; candidates without current certification must obtain it during pre-employment process.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications related to boilers, pressure vessels, and structural assemblies.

• Physically able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in hot or cold environments, including climbing, lifting, and standing for extended periods.

• Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and following procedures.

Preferred Skills

• NCCER Boilermaking or related craft certification, or completion of a Boilermaker apprenticeship program.

• Prior experience working in refineries, chemical plants, power generation, or similar industrial facilities.

• Proficient in rigging, welding, and use of oxy-fuel cutting equipment, grinders, and other boilermaking tools.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew in a fast-paced environment.
