Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering technical support for U.S. Navy ship’s steam and main propulsion equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, isolate, correct, and test HM&E systems to return to operation.
  • Provide On-Site (OS) and Distance Support (DS) technical assistance for HM&E equipment casualties and repairs.
  • Provide logistics support for parts and APL accuracy.
  • Train ship’s force personnel in operation, maintenance, and logistics support.
  • Assess shipboard equipment per ICMP, TSRA, or INSURV guidelines and draft standards.
  • Identify changes to MRCs, manuals, drawings or other documentation.
  • Interpret diagrams and schematics as SME to troubleshoot and advise.
  • Observe safety standards.
  • Potential travel of 10% or more CONUS/OCONUS; may require overtime.

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a job opportunity for a full time Boiler Technician/Steam SME II.

Summary

The Boiler Technician/Steam SME II will provide troubleshooting, repair, assessment, and testing of US Navy ships’ steam systems.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering technical support U. S. Navy ship’s steam and main propulsion equipment including equipment associated with: main and auxiliary steam, feed and condensate, condensers, valves, distilling plant, main machinery space support systems propulsion support systems including fuel and lube oil purifiers, fuel oil systems, main propulsion lube oil systems and associated support and valves.
  • Provide troubleshooting, isolation, correction, and functional testing of HM&E systems/equipment and return to fully operational condition.
  • Provide On-Site (OS) and Distance Support (DS) technical assistance for ship HM&E related equipment casualties and repairs.
  • Provide logistics support in instances where parts may be required or Allowable Parts Lists (APL) are not correct/complete.
  • Train ship’s force personnel in the operation, maintenance, and logistics support of specific equipment.
  • Perform assessments of shipboard equipment and systems as defined by ICMP, TSRA, or INSURV guidelines. Draft assessment standards as required.
  • Perform logistics support in instances where parts may be required or APLs are not correct/complete.
  • Identify changes necessary to Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs), technical manuals, drawings or other documentation.
  • Interprets diagrams, schematics and plans and the ability as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to troubleshoot, analyze and provide distance support for listed equipment.
  • Observes all safety standards.
  • May require travel 10% or greater both CONUS and OCONUS.
  • May require overtime.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 6 (six) years’ experience with U.S. Navy shipboard steam and propulsion maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Experience independently or leading a team accomplishing formal material condition assessments (ex. TSRA, ICMP, INSURV, or similar) of U.S. Navy Ship’s systems.
  • Experience communicating troubleshooting/assessments with official reports.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interpret naval engineering drawings and diagrams.
  • Functional knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
Pay Range

The pay range for this role is $32.32 To $39.78 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

ADA/Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 50 lbs.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator.
  • Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions.
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
