Job summary

Metrolina Greenhouses is seeking a Boiler Systems Technician to maintain and operate its boiler systems, biomass and natural gas boilers, ESPs, and related equipment. This role includes regular inspections, troubleshooting, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations, with 12-hour shifts in a rotating schedule.

The successful candidate will work outdoors and indoors as needed, perform maintenance on hydraulic and mechanical systems, and operate equipment such as front-end loaders

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and accuracy in routine checks and maintenance.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and in outdoor conditions.
• Mechanical aptitude with basic repair skills and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and without constant supervision.
• Strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed.
• Familiarity with large grading/loading equipment is preferred.
• Willingness to learn and perform general boiler system maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Work independently to manage tasks and troubleshoot issues in the absence of direct supervision.
• Follow all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Flexible hours and overtime may be required for maintenance outside regular shifts.
• Operate and maintain equipment including front-end loaders and skid steers as needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair components to ensure overall system function.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Position Summary

This position requiresmaintainingand operating of Metrolina Greenhouses’ boiler systems, their components, and their associated equipmentwhich includes biomass boilers, natural gas boilers, ESPs, wood and ash conveyor systems, largefront-endloaders, and skid steers. It also involves performing regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.This role willbe requiredto work12-hourshifts in a rotation thatadjustper season.

KeyResponsibilities

• A successful candidate should be capable of working independently without constant supervision.This includes managing tasks, troubleshooting issues, and making decisions in the absence of direct supervision.

• Must be willing and able to follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment

• Flexible working hours and overtime is needed as the system requires maintenance and operation outside of regular working hours

• Experience with front-end loaders and skid steers is necessary as this includes understanding the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment

• Trouble shoot issues and repair or replace component ensuring overall functioning within the system

• Other duties as assigned by management

This position is primarily outdoorsbutmaybe requiredtowork between locations and within an indoor office environment for administrative duties,whichmay require the use of computers and standard office equipment.Fluency to read, write, and understand the English language isrequired.Must be ableto work in all outdoor elements, including dust and allergens. There are occasionalneeds towork inconfined spaces.Position requires long-term ability forstanding, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching,andtwisting on a regular basis to fulfill essential duties.Candidate must have the ability to operate all machinery necessary within the department and across the facility, including but not limited to driving the scooter.Employeemust have the ability to lift35 pounds unaided.
