Job summary

Metrolina Greenhouses seeks a Boiler Technician to operate and maintain biomass and natural gas boiler systems, ESPs, conveyors, and heavy equipment across our facilities. You will perform inspections, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

The role requires working 12-hour shifts in seasonal rotations outdoors, with occasional indoor admin tasks. Candidates should be mechanically inclined, able to work unsupervised, and follow all safety protocols.

• Experience with front-end loaders and skid steers for operation and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot issues and repair or replace components to maintain overall system functioning.

Position Summary

This position requires maintaining and operating Metrolina Greenhouses’ boiler systems, their components, and their associated equipment which includes biomass boilers, natural gas boilers, ESPs, wood and ash conveyor systems, large front-end loaders, and skid steers . It also involves performing regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role will be required to work 12-hour shifts in a rotation that adjust per season.

• A successful candidate should be capable of working independently without constant supervision. This includes managing tasks, troubleshooting issues, and making decisions in the absence of direct supervision.
• Must be willing and able to follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
• Flexible working hours and overtime is needed as the system requires maintenance and operation outside of regular working hours
• Experience with front - end loaders and skid steers is necessary as this includes understanding the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment
• Trouble shoot issues and repair or replace components ensuring overall functioning within the system
• Other duties as assigned by management

This position is primarily outdoors but may be required to work between locations and within an indoor office environment for administrative duties, which may require the use of computer s and standard office equipment . Fluency to read, write, and understand the English language is required . Must be able to work in all outdoor elements, including dust and allergens . There are o ccasional needs to work in c onfined space s. Position requires long-term ability for s tanding, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting on a regular basis to fulfill essential duties . Candidate must have the ab ility to operate all machinery necessary within the department and across the facility, including but not limited to driving the scooter . Employee must have the a bility to lif t 35 pounds unaided .
