Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Boiler Plant Tech to operate and maintain its boiler plant, ensuring reliable steam generation and system operation. The role emphasizes safety, accurate logging, and adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.

The Boiler Plant Tech will manage boiler controls, perform inspections, and respond to trouble calls to keep the plant running smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate the boiler, combustion controls, burner controls, gas- and oil-fueled steam burners, and water treatment systems
• Perform blowdowns, adjustments, and routine inspections to start, operate, and maintain a boiler plant facility
• Stabilize boilers, maintain accurate operating logs, and perform preventive maintenance to sustain equipment availability and reliability
• Recognize, interpret, and react to a variety of boiler-related problems
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of operational phases of boiler plant operations (water treatment, steam generation)
• Operate power boilers from cold starts through normal operation and emergency shut-downs
• Respond to trouble calls, contact shop or maintenance workers, and perform and document routine inspections of the site
• Maintain performance monitoring and control equipment, and order supplies as needed
• Assist with monitoring, calibrating, and performing minor repairs of recording equipment
• Participate in regular inspections, overhauls, and maintenance of related plant equipment
• Perform various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions
• Support safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in continuous improvement activities

Boiler Plant Tech

As a Boiler Plant Tech, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the operation of our 3 Cleaver-Brooks fire tube boiler, ensuring the production of 60,000 lbs. of high-pressure steam per hour.

Responsibilities:

• Operate the boiler, combustion controls, burner controls, gas and oil fueled steam atomization burners, and water treatment systems

• Perform blowdowns, adjustments, and routine inspections to start, operate, and maintain a boiler plant facility

• Stabilize boilers, maintain accurate operating logs, and perform preventive maintenance to sustain equipment availability and reliability

• Recognize, interpret, and react to variety of boiler-related problems

• Possess comprehensive knowledge of operational phases of boiler plant operations (water treatment, steam generation)

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires extended periods of standing, bending, crouching, and kneeling on floors, ladders, gratings, etc.

• Incumbents frequently lift and carry equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 60 pounds
