The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Boiler Plant Operator Supervisor to oversee the operation of a high-pressure Boiler Plant. This role involves monitoring steam production, ensuring safety compliance, and supervising operations in a critical healthcare environment.
This position is located within the Engineering Service at the VA Boston Healthcare System in Jamaica Plain, MA.
The Boiler Plant Operator Supervisor supports the delivery of quality health care in a cost-effective manner by maintaining the 24-hour, 7-day-a-week operation of a high-pressure Boiler Plant. This includes three 740-horsepower boilers, with a total maximum capacity of 153,180 pounds of steam per hour, and auxiliary equipment to produce and control the steam required by the medical center.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Physical Effort and Work Conditions: The person in this position is subject to frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crawling, and climbing ladders and scaffolds for inspections. The work is performed inside, often in high temperatures near boilers, and involves exposure to steam leaks, oil fumes, and fuel gases. Risks include cuts, bruises, burns, and broken bones from accidents while working on equipment.

Note: A full year of work is considered 35-40 hours per week. All experience must include start/end dates with months and years. Part-time experience will be credited proportionally. Volunteer work and unpaid experience are also considered and should be detailed in your resume.
