Job summary

Cordia LLC is seeking a Boiler Operator / O&M Engineer to operate and maintain district heating and cooling plants, including boilers, chillers, and auxiliary equipment, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.

Reporting to the Operations or Maintenance Manager, you will perform routine and unplanned maintenance, complete logs and plant paperwork, and coordinate with contractors while supporting shift operations and safe plant performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years steady work with steam and chilled water equipment, steam turbines and water pumps.
  • State of Minnesota First Class A Operating Engineer’s License or obtain within 2 years (exceptions possible for 4 years with reduced wage).
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Review and familiarize with Main Plant, standby and remote plants and distribution system.
  • Place in service primary and auxiliary equipment and protect personnel and equipment in emergencies.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and support planning; interface with contractors.
  • Complete logs, records, maintenance documentation and plant paperwork as required.
  • Ensure workstations are maintained in good order.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by plant management (e.g., facility cleaning, meter reading).

Job description

Boiler Operator, O&M Engineer

Reporting to the Operations Manager or the Maintenance Manager, the O&M Engineer provides ongoing operations and maintenance of district heating and cooling plants, while observing and complying with all safety requirements. The primary objective is to safely and efficiently operate and maintain boilers, chillers, and auxiliary equipment.

  • Review and become familiar with the Main Plant, standby plants, remote plants, and distribution system.
  • Place in service primary and auxiliary equipment for proper operation of the plant, take the necessary steps to protect personnel and equipment from harm in the event of an emergency situation.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment as directed. Support job planning and interface with contractors for maintenance or project activities
  • Complete all necessary logs, records, maintenance documentation and plant paperwork as required.
  • See that all workstations are maintained in good order.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by plant management (i.e., facility cleaning, customer meter reading, etc.).
Experience and Education
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of steady work experience, working with steam and chilled water equipment, steam turbines and water pumps.
  • Must have a State of Minnesota First Class “A” Operating Engineer’s License or obtain within 2 years. Exceptions can be made on a limited basis to allow 4 years to obtain (reduced wage until obtaining a State of Minnesota Second Class “A” Operating Engineer’s License).
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge and experience in working with steam and chilled water equipment, steam turbines and water pumps.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in adverse climate conditions.
