Base pay range
$24.05/hr - $39.71/hr
Job Description
Responsible for running, maintaining, and repairing boilers and other systems. Ensures that the boiler systems are kept in proper working order in each facility. Starts and stops boilers and takes readings as required. Performs basic water testing and adds chemicals as needed. Maintains all documentation regarding EPA, state, and local codes for compliance.
Principal Accountabilities
- Performs all safety checks on boiler, tanks, pumps and motors and monitors boiler plant conditions.
- Makes all logbook entries and conducts maintenance as instructed by the Chief Engineer.
- Assures steam generation to entire hospital for heat, hot water, dietary and central supply.
- Maintains fuel levels and ensures documentation and records are in order.
- Repairs and maintains water softener for domestic cold-water pumps.
- Tests chemical composition in boiler water treatment and make additions as required.
- Responds to floor requests when boilers are turned down to low pressure.
- Performs general clean up and preventive maintenance on all boiler room equipment.
- Stocks inventory tools, supplies, and other resources.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 0-3 years of experience in Boiler Operations or relevant area.
Preferred
- NJ State Boiler Operator license.
- NJ Black Seal, High Pressure license.

About The Team
Atlantic Health System’s Environmental Service Department ensures the cleanest and safest health care environment for all team members, patients and visitors. Environmental Services is responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of common areas, outpatient areas, procedural areas, and patient rooms, including bathrooms, furniture, carpet/hard surface floors, vents, electronics and patient equipment. The team uses sanitizing processes of the highest quality required by multiple regulatory agencies. Often referred to as ‘the first line of defense against infection,’ the Environmental Service Department collaborates with the Atlantic Health System Infection Prevention and Quality Departments to ensure that there is consistent alignment at all sites.
