Job Description

Valley Medical Center is seeking a Boiler Operator to perform engineering duties within the Facilities Engineering Department. The role involves maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and operational checks of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and machinery, in a healthcare setting.

Prerequisites:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Washington State driver's license
  • Five years experience in healthcare setting (preferred)
  • Ten years experience as an Operating Engineer

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Experience operating complex utility systems (HVAC, Water, Steam, Electrical)
  • Valid Steam License (Grade 4 preferred, Grade 3 required within 180 days)

Physical and Environmental Demands: Ability to work in various weather conditions, lift up to 75 pounds regularly, work in confined or awkward positions, and wear safety gear. The role involves exposure to temperature changes, water, fumes, electrical hazards, and potential injuries, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and testing of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Follow maintenance schedules and work orders
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions, disassemble and replace parts
  • Maintain buildings to VMC standards, perform emergency duties as required

Additional Details: The position requires working inside and outside in all weather, with exposure to various hazards. Regular attendance is mandatory.
