Job summary

Hood Industries is hiring a Boiler Operator for our plywood mill in Beaumont, Mississippi. You will monitor and control boiler systems, adjust fuel feed and water levels, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation.

Candidates should have a technical degree or equivalent experience, be able to work 8- or 12-hour shifts, lift up to 50 pounds, and commit to overtime as needed. A strong safety record and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Two years’ technical degree or equivalent work experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to maintain good attendance and follow attendance policy.
  • Mechanical background is a plus.
  • Must work 8- or 12-hour shifts and be available for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Observe boiler controls: pressure, temperature, steam flows and draft to verify operation.
  • Adjust fuel feed, draft openings, water level, and steam pressure.
  • Monitor boiler and auxiliary units for malfunctions and perform troubleshooting.
  • Test and treat boiler feed water with specified chemicals.
  • Maintain logs of meter readings and fuel consumption.
  • Operate loader for wood waste storage or boiler feeding.
  • Provide reliable team collaboration and safety adherence.

  • Adjusts controls to set specified fuel feed, draft openings, water level, and steam pressure of boiler.
  • Observes boiler and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions and can analyze and trouble shoot mechanical repairs needs.
  • May test and treat boiler feed water, using specified chemicals.
  • May maintain log of meter and gauge readings and record data, such as water test results and quantity of fuel consumed.
  • Operate loader for wood waste storage or boiler feeding.

Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood and lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fifteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States. Boiler operators are responsible for maintaining and operation of wood fire boiler for plywood drying production. They handle equipment such as low-pressure boilers, high-pressure boilers, power boilers, steam boilers, and hot water heating systems.

Key Responsibilities
