A global industrial solutions provider is looking for a Boiler Operations Specialist in Houston, Texas. The candidate will operate and maintain natural gas and light oil-fired industrial heat process equipment and boilers. Essential experience includes boiler testing and safety compliance. The role also requires travel across North America, spending 100-120 nights per year away from home.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience performing boiler testing, maintenance, and service.
  • Experience on boiler fire control systems and understanding of boiler safety.
  • Ability to operate and monitor steam boilers and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair boiler systems.
  • Operate and monitor steam boilers and associated equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform preventive maintenance including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of boiler components and controls.
  • Start up boilers and related equipment up to 1,000 HP (34,000 pph) independently.
  • Assist team members during field service calls, start-ups, or troubleshooting.
  • Calibrate and checkout instrumentation like gauges, pressure transmitters, flow meters, VFDs, etc.
  • Monitor systems and conduct safety inspections to ensure EPA compliance.
  • Take on additional assignments as needed.

We’re currently growing our team of Artisans with a Boiler Operations Specialist. This role is responsible for operation, service and repair activities on natural gas and light oil-fired industrial heat process equipment and boilers.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair all components of boiler systems and associated mechanical equipment for offshore and onshore projects
  • Operate and monitor steam boilers/hot water generators and associated equipment, including compressors, pumps, fans
  • Troubleshoot and repair control systems, electrical circuitry, deareators, gas and fuel pressure lines, feedwater pumps, compressors, motors, heat exchangers, and other related equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on various pieces of equipment within boiler package to include disassembly, cleaning, and re-assembly functions, fire tube maintenance, water side maintenance, boiler controls disassembly and the repair and rebuilding of controls
  • Perform independent start-up of boilers and related equipment up to 1,000 HP (34,000 pph)
  • Assist team members in conducting field service calls to perform start-ups, troubleshooting, or other service-related activities
  • Perform calibrations and checkouts to basic instrumentation such as gauges, pressure transmitters, flow meters, pneumatic and electronic drive units, variable speed motor controls (VFDs), etc.
  • Monitor systems and perform safety inspections to ensure compliance with established safety requirements and EPA regulations
  • Perform additional assignments as requested/needed
Requirements
  • High school diploma and 2 years of related advanced schooling or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience performing boiler testing, maintenance, and service
  • Experience on boiler fire control systems and understand all aspects of boiler safety and operation
Working Conditions / Physical Demands

The Company requires passing a pre-employment physical in which an objective medical professional will determine whether you can safely meet the physical demands of the position.

  • Typically, 12 continuous hours that may extend up to 16 hours if an emergent need exists, for up to 14 days in a row
  • Day shift and/or night shift
  • Working environment will include offshore platforms and onshore locations
  • Projects are executed outdoors, so the potential for inclement weather exists to include temperature extremes as well as in an offshore environment
  • Uneven or unstable ground, and wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces and footings
  • Outside locations in extreme temperatures and weather conditions including wind, rain, snow, and other forms of inclement weather
  • Routine, intermittent exposure to noise more than 85 dBA-TWA

Physical demands include work at heights up to 150 ft/ 45m accessed via stairs, climbing ladders, or critical lifts by cranes, lifting and carrying up to 40lbs., pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs., standing and walking for up to 12 to 16 hours daily with minimal rest breaks.

Travel Requirements

Ability to travel to outlying markets for supporting a growing list of clients across North America and International Markets and spend 100 – 120 nights per year away from home.
