Job summary

Willbanks Inc. in Texas seeks a skilled Boiler Mechanic to install, maintain, repair, and modify piping and boiler systems across commercial settings.

This hands-on role uses welding, ProPress, and various hand tools, and requires thorough documentation of services performed. Candidates should have 3–5 years of boiler experience, a high school diploma or GED, and relevant safety and boiler certifications; NBIC/ASME experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of boiler mechanic experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • NBIC or ASME pressure vessel welding experience preferred.
  • ASME/NBIC certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, guides, codes, and work orders.
  • Troubleshoots heating boilers, heating systems, and fuel power boilers with complex problems and extensive repairs, requiring judgment to locate malfunctions.
  • Communicate any order updates, changes, or issues with clients, Project Managers, and dispatchers.
  • Installs, modifies, overhauls, repairs, and maintains a variety of complex heating boilers and/or heating systems, single and multiple fuel power boilers, and associated auxiliary control equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on heating, domestic, steam and hot oil boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Regularly runs piping in welded, threaded and ProPress pipe.
  • Reads blueprints, schematics, piping diagrams, and drawings of hydronic and domestic hot water systems, steam systems and hot oil systems for proper installation.
  • Uses and maintains a variety tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MISSON OF THE POSITION

The Boiler Mechanic’s primary function is to install, maintain, repair, and modify, piping and complex heating and steam boiler systems, in multiple types of commercial and industrial applications. This is a hands‑on, labor intensive job where a variety of hand or power tools, and welding equipment will be used. Once the boiler is in working order, the mechanic will complete and record their services through various paperwork.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Requirements
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree in related field, experience in related field in lieu of degree may be considered, preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
  • OSHA 10 Safety Training preferred.
  • Annual Basic Plus Safety
  • National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBPVI) Certification preferred.
  • American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Certification preferred.
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section 608 Certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a boiler mechanic required.
  • NBIC or ASME pressure vessel welding experience preferred.
  • Scotch Marine Boiler Service or Pressure Vessel welding preferred.
  • Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, and other PLC and Discreet Digital Controls preferred.
  • Vertical uphill and vertical downhill with a 6G qualifier preferred.
