Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; four years related experience or training.
  • Electrical and/or mechanical engineering knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and staff.
  • Able to use math for measurements and conversions.

Responsibilities

  • Fire boilers and related equipment for proper operation prior to installation.
  • Perform independent start-up of boiler equipment.
  • Interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
  • Support field service calls for start-up and troubleshooting.
  • Perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boilers.
  • Communicate with customers to diagnose issues and explain services.
  • Complete detailed field service reports.
  • Travel may be required; overtime may be needed.

Job description

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, as well as engineering applications and automated control systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Utilizes test equipment, meters, and one’s mechanical and electrical abilities to fire boilers and related equipment to ensure proper operation prior to and during installation.
  • Perform independent start-up of boiler and related equipment.
  • Interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Assists the Service team in conducting field service calls to perform start-up, troubleshooting, or other service-related activities as needed.
  • Perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boiler and auxiliary equipment.
  • Communicates well to new and existing customers to determine the nature of boiler-specific problems, provide equipment training, explain services and operations, and provide engineering support.
  • Completes required field service reports, which document work performed, nature of problem, hours worked, etc.
  • Problem-solving and ability to address issues and concerns.
  • Develops and maintains good customer relations and rapport. Look for new sales opportunities and equipment improvements. Promotes our products and services and associates favorably.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters.
  • May require some overnight travel and overtime.
  • Must be punctual, flexible, trainable, and a self-starter. Able to think outside of the box and follow detailed directions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering studies preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations and familiarity with electrical and mechanical testing equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, sales personnel, and other shop & service employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google App programs and use of a tablet and/or smartphone.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range: $45 - $65 per hour The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results. Benefits are provided through local labor union aligned with collective bargaining agreement.
