Auto Body Collision Repair: Body Technician

The Body Technician is a skilled craftsman with a thorough understanding of how to restore automobiles with light to heavy damage through collision repair. Key responsibilities include assessing exterior damage, repairing manufacturer guidelines, ensuring necessary parts, reshaping panels with minor damage, welding and refinishing techniques as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Ensure repairs adhere to OE standards, DRP part choices, and ADAS requirements for calibrations and scanning, verifying a quality and safe repair.
  2. Complete disassembly of vehicles
  3. Refit new parts such as bumpers, fenders, grills, moldings, and other bolt-on and welded items.
  4. Complete all repairs to the original manufacturer’s specifications, including door, hood, deck alignments, chassis, frame measurements, and welded on unibody parts.
  5. Check all parts for accuracy before starting repairs and notify the Estimator of any discrepancies.
  6. Work efficiently to meet the target delivery date assigned to an RO.
  7. Take responsibility for all parts assigned to your jobs.
  8. Protect vehicle interiors and exteriors from damage during repair.
  9. Read and understand every line item of each vehicle’s RO related to your responsibilities and inspect vehicles to ensure completion of repairs.
  10. Provide guidance and assistance to apprentices to support their growth.

  • Customer Service Index Score 95+ for Quality, On-Time Delivery, and Net Promoter Score
  • Cycle Time Efficiency
Skills/Qualifications
  • I-CAR Gold Class and ASE certification is a plus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of collision repair.
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines for repair work.
  • Skilled welding ability for panel removal and refit, including bolt-on items.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions accurately and work independently or with others in an organized manner.
Behavioral Excellence
  • Perform responsibilities according to Company SOPs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace following 5S principles.
  • Participate in training to maintain and enhance skills.
  • Work extended hours as needed to meet workload and customer demands.
