Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Body Technician to perform intermediate-level body repairs on tractors and equipment. The role may involve outdoor work, variable shifts including nights and weekends, and potential overtime with full-time attendance.

The technician will inspect damaged equipment, estimate repair costs, rebuild and paint trucks, and perform diagnostics and testing per manufacturer specifications. DOT/FHWA inspections and air brake work are required.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• 1–2 years of body repair/semi-tractor maintenance experience or equivalent education/experience.
• A/C Certification required.
• At least 1 year of experience with DOT/FHWA inspections and air brakes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect damaged or wrecked equipment and create cost estimates for repairs.
• Rebuild and repaint trucks, hoods and body parts with focus on fiberglass and cosmetics.
• Demonstrate knowledge of preventative maintenance, parts replacement and complex tractor repairs.
• Complete work orders and follow standard repair times and warranty guidelines.
• Troubleshoot tractor issues and work both independently and with the team.
• Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain PPE logs.
• Maintain communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers.
• Participate in OEM training for OE repairs.
• Operate wrecker to move trucks to the shop and perform post-maintenance diagnostics.

Job Summary

Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for performing intermediate level body repairs. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, rebuilding, repairing, and painting of J.B. Hunt tractors and other equipment. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect damaged or wrecked equipment and perform valuations to create cost estimates for repairs
• Rebuild and paint wrecked trucks, hoods, and body parts with special focus on fiberglass and cosmetic repairs
• Demonstrate proficient technical knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and more difficult repairs as it pertains tractor maintenance including but not limited to the fuel system, battery, engine, drive train, onboard computer, transmission, air brake systems and FHWA Inspections
• Accurately perform intermediate level repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders, and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
• Troubleshoot tractor issues; work independently and seek assistance as needed
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers at all times
• Participate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairs
• Adhere to safety standards and procedures including maintaining respirator log
• Participate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairs
• Operate wrecker to move trucks into shop to be repaired
• Perform post-maintenance diagnostics and testing

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• 18 years of age with 1-2 years of experience in body repair/ Semi-Tractor maintenance and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• A/C Certification
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1-2 years of experience in body repair/ Semi-Tractor maintenance and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to read documents and/or information in English
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
