Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking a skilled Body Shop Technician in Smyrna, TN. You will repair or replace damaged body parts to pre‑accident condition, adhering to factory specifications and dealership procedures.

Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to I‑Car standards are required. Responsibilities include reviewing orders, performing teardown, using measuring equipment, and signing off on final quality before moving vehicles to paint.

Qualifications

• 4 years body shop experience required.
• Must possess a current and valid driver license with insurability per company carrier.
• CDL and Medical card as required by FMVSS preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Review repair orders, work orders, and estimates to identify repairs needed before starting work.
• Complete all repairs according to repair orders, supplements, and factory specifications.
• Follow manufacturer and shop procedures, and use frame/measuring equipment per vendor rules.
• Perform initial teardown of vehicle and identify parts for cut‑in and edging.
• Repair and reassemble vehicles to pre‑accident condition with high quality checks.
• Supervise or mentor apprentices and lesser skilled techs to improve repair skills.

Body Shop Technician

A Body Shop Technician will repair or replace damaged body parts back to Pre‑Accident Condition with factory and dealership specifications. Quality repair must meet or exceed the original factory fit and finish. The end result should be an invisible repair.

Responsibilities

• Review each repair order, work order, and estimator’s notes to understand repairs needed prior to beginning work on the vehicle.
• All repairs must be completed according to the documentation on the repair order or the supplement.
• Knowledge of the manufacturer’s and technical repair process.
• Ability to use frame and measuring equipment per vendor procedures.
• Perform initial teardown of vehicle.
• Identify parts for cut‑in and edging.
• Perform all repair procedures according to factory specifications and company policy. I‑Car Standard.
• Perform and sign‑off on all quality check before sending vehicle to paint department.
• Re‑assemble painted vehicle and painted parts.
• Perform a final quality check and review of work order prior to sending the vehicle to the detail department.
• Work with apprentice or lesser skilled technicians in developing repair skills.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 4 years body shop experience.
• Must possess a current and valid driver license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company’s insurance carrier.
• Current and valid CDL and Medical card as required by the FMVS preferred but not required.
• Up to $5,000 sign‑on bonus based on experience.
