Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is looking for a Body Shop Technician to join our team in Alabama. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs, and coordinate with the parts department to secure needed components.

Ideal candidates bring 2–4 years related experience, basic computer skills, and a high school diploma. We offer comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth within our network of dealerships.

Qualifications

• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic computer skills
• High School Diploma required; college or technical training preferred

Responsibilities

• Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs according to repair order and factory standards.
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Follow warranty or customer-requested protocols.
• Assess vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is needed or recommended.
• Maintain and account for all dealership-owned tools and manuals; return them in good condition.
• Keep the vehicle clean and inform service advisor of any changes in appearance or condition.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations anytime handling hazardous materials.

As a Body Shop Technician, you are a valued member of our team, performing:

• Work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnosis of cause of malfunctions and performing repair(s).
• Communicating with parts department to obtain needed part(s).
• Following protocols to ensure parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examining assigned vehicle(s) to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communication with service advisor/dispatcher immediately on repair, updates, and/or delays.
• Documentation of all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Supervisory work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Reporting machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensuring that vehicle is kept clean. Notifying service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Maintenance and accountability for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
• Keeping abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, Right-to-Know, etc.
• Keeping abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Operates all tools/equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Candidates have the following:

• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic computer skills
• High School Diploma- College or Technical training preferred, but not required
