Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers in Tuscumbia, AL is seeking a skilled Body Shop Technician to perform repairs in line with dealership and factory standards, diagnose malfunctions, communicate with parts, and document work on repair orders.

The role includes supervising apprentices, following safety regulations, staying current with technical bulletins, and maintaining tools; ASE and Cummins certifications are preferred, a high school diploma is required, and a CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Two to four years related experience and/or training.
• ASE Certification a plus.
• Cummins Engine Repair Certification a plus.
• Basic computer skills.
• High School Diploma required; college/tech training preferred.
• Valid CDL License a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy per dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Follow warranty or customer requests and safety protocols.
• Inspect vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is needed.
• Update service advisor/dispatcher on repair progress and delays.
• Document all work performed on repair orders.
• Supervise apprentices as assigned.
• Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Keep vehicle clean and maintain dealership-owned tools and manuals.
• Adhere to federal, state, local regulations and manufacturer bulletins.
• Operate tools safely and report safety issues promptly.

As a Body Shop Technician, you are a valued member of our team, performing:

• Work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnosis of cause of malfunctions and performing repair(s).
• Communicating with parts department to obtain needed part(s).
• Following protocols to ensure parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examining assigned vehicle(s) to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communication with service advisor/dispatcher immediately on repair, updates, and/or delays.
• Documentation of all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Supervisory work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Reporting machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensuring that vehicle is kept clean. Notifying service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Maintenance and accountability for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
• Keeping abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, Right-to-Know, etc.
• Keeping abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Operates all tools/equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Candidates Have The Following

• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ASE Certification a plus
• Cummins Engine Repair Certification a plus
• Basic computer skills
• High School Diploma- College or Technical training preferred, but not required
• Valid CDL License a plus
