The Division of Bridges is seeking to hire a Transportation Specialist 3 /Assistant Operations Manager who will report to the Deputy Director of Bridge Painting, in the Bureau of Maintenance, Inspections, and Operations. The role involves managing bridge painting and graffiti removal operations across NYC boroughs, assisting in planning, scheduling, and coordinating activities, monitoring work progress, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and liaising with contractors and internal units. The position requires visiting sites, reviewing project documents, and fostering effective communication within the division.

Preferred Skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid New York State motor vehicle driver’s license (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in transportation engineering, urban planning, or related fields; OR
  • Baccalaureate degree in engineering plus one year of relevant experience; OR
  • Baccalaureate degree plus two years of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate degree or 60 semester credits plus four years of relevant experience; OR
  • High school diploma plus six years of relevant experience.

Special Note: Additional experience is required for higher assignment levels.

Preferred Skills (repeated): Effective communication, NY driver’s license, MS Office skills.
