The Boating Division is seeking Boating Education Assistants to engage with and educate boaters at our state boat launches. These positions involve visiting boat launches to promote clean and safe boating practices, conduct Vessel Safety Checks and Aquatic Invasive Species inspections, and report on the boat launch conditions to the Boating Division staff. The roles are field-based, with duty stations statewide, primarily within reasonable driving distance from your residence. The position runs from mid-May through mid-October, requiring weekend work, approximately 40 hours per week with variable hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted by the hiring supervisor around March/April 2025. New hires must complete all employment paperwork, including providing a valid ID and documents for I-9 verification, before starting. Employment is contingent upon passing a background check covering employment, criminal, and motor vehicle records. DEEP is committed to a safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory work environment. This is a seasonal, limited-duration position within the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, performing various tasks related to boating safety and education.
Training will be provided for all duties.
Ability to follow instructions.
Some incumbents may need to perform emergency first aid and must obtain and maintain a Basic First Aid Certificate. Additional requirements may include a valid Motor Vehicle Operator license, pesticide license, specific college training, or EMT certification, depending on the position. Lifeguard roles require ARC Lifeguarding Certification, including CPR and First Aid.
Must have adequate physical strength and stamina. Lifeguard roles require demonstrating ARC waterfront lifeguarding swimming skills.
