Job summary

The Marina Mechanic in Massachusetts inspects, maintains, and repairs boats of all kinds, using diagnostic equipment to test engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, masts, sails, and navigational gear.

You will install and test sanitation and refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories, troubleshoot vessel systems, source parts as needed, and ensure safety and compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Technical school training preferred.
• 5 years’ experience preferred.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and targets.
• Reliable with good time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Adaptable to working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, masts, sails, and navigational equipment.
• Install and test sanitation and refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories.
• Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components.
• Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, sourcing parts if required.
• Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to: electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing & water systems, gas and diesel engines.
• Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets.
• Must possess own tools.
• Routinely operate motor and water vehicles and other various mechanized equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and sanitation policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
