Job summary

Lehigh Hanson Inc. seeks a licensed US Coast Guard Master of Towing Vessels to oversee operations on the waterway for extended deployments. You will verify vessel suitability and supervise crew to ensure safety and compliance.

The role requires living aboard for up to 30 days and traveling along Western Rivers as needed. The position demands adherence to all federal, state and local guidelines, strong leadership, and the ability to manage navigational assessments and reporting while achieving

Qualifications

• Must have barge towing industry experience.
• US Coast Guard Master of Towing Vessels – Western Rivers MMC required.
• Must be willing to live aboard the vessel and work on the waterway for up to 30 consecutive days.
• Must comply with all federal, state and local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Verify vessel and crew are suitable for the intended routes.
• Ensure navigational assessments are completed prior to getting underway and updated as needed throughout trips.
• Ensure inspections, reports, drills, logbook entries and Towing Vessel Record requirements are completed.
• Supervise crew to maintain safe and efficient work practices and address compliance issues with supervision.

What You'll Be Doing

Verify Vessel and Crew are suitable for the intended routes.

Ensure navigational assessments are completed prior to getting underway and updated as needed throughout each trip.

Ensure required inspection, reports, drills, logbook entries and items required by the Towing Vessel Record are completed as necessary.

Supervise crew to ensure safe and efficient work practices are being followed. Follow Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Maintain an awareness of environmental standards. Take corrective action to address minor problems or report compliance issues to the appropriate supervisor for resolution.
