Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking a vessel master with barge towing experience to oversee operations on waterways in the United States. The role requires living aboard a vessel for up to 30 consecutive days and strict adherence to federal, state, and local guidelines.
You will verify vessel and crew suitability, perform navigational and safety checks, and supervise crew to uphold safety standards on every voyage.

Previous experience in the barge towing industry required.
Verify Vessel and Crew are suitable for the intended routes.
Ensure navigational assessments are completed prior to getting underway and updated as needed thought out each trip.
Ensure required inspection, reports, drills, logbook entries and items required by the Towing Vessel Record are completed as necessary.
Supervise crew to ensure safe and efficient work practices are being followed. Follow Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Maintain an awareness of environmental standards. Take corrective action to address minor problems or report compliance issues to the appropriate supervisor for resolution.
