Job summary

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Boat Pilot to operate on the waterways for extended deployments, living aboard the vessel for up to 30 consecutive days. Candidates must comply with federal, state, and local regulations and have prior barge towing experience with an active US Coast Guard Master of Towing Vessels MMC.

Responsibilities include vessel and crew suitability checks, nautical assessments, mandatory inspections, drills, logbook entries, and adherence to the Towing Vessel Record.

Qualifications

• MMC (Merchant Mariner Credential) required.
• Barge towing experience preferred.
• US Coast Guard Master of Towing Vessels credential is required.

Responsibilities

• Verify Vessel and Crew are suitable for the intended routes.
• Ensure navigational assessments are completed prior to getting underway and updated as needed.
• Ensure inspections, drills, logbook entries, and Towing Vessel Record items are completed as required.
• Supervise crew to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
• Follow Safety Policies, including proper use of PPE.
• Maintain awareness of environmental standards.
• Take corrective action and report compliance issues to the supervisor.
