Base pay range

$24.00/hr - $30.00/hr

Position Details

  • Reports to: Department Supervisor
  • Location: TACOMA
  • FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Shift: 5:00AM to 3:30PM Mon-Thursday
  • Pay: $24.00 to $30.00 DOE
Job Summary

The Welder/Fabricator 2 uses welding and other tools to join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal to build boats. Responsible for coordinating daily tasks, maintaining safety, ensuring quality standards, and working under supervision with some independence.

Responsibilities
  • Clamp, tack-weld, grind components for welding
  • Remove rough spots with grinders
  • Weld in various positions
  • Operate safety equipment and follow safe work habits
  • Operate welding equipment (gas metal arc, plasma arc)
  • Position and secure workpieces
  • Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating and warping
  • Set up or verify machine settings
  • Use handheld and power tools
  • Perform other duties supporting the role
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team
  • Ensure quality and accuracy
  • Report issues promptly

  • Intermediate welding, fabrication, and fitting skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing practices

Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of experience or equivalent training/education
  • Aluminum experience required, MIG welding preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols
  • Must pass a skill test
Physical Requirements

Must be able to handle physical tasks, work in variable environments, and move up to 50 lbs. Capable of operating in high-speed watercraft in various weather conditions.
