Job description

Board Treasurer for Nonprofit Tech Startup

We believe in transforming every purchase into a force for good. Together, we empower communities, uplift causes, and change lives—one micro-donation at a time.

Grateful Giving is a new technology platform that empowers individuals, businesses, and nonprofits to create positive social impact by turning everyday spending into effortless giving.

The Grateful Giving Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are seeking an experienced finance professional or CPA to serve as Treasurer on our National Board of Directors. Because we are a nonprofit, this is a part-time, flexible volunteer role, not paid employment.

This role is a good fit for an individual who is at a point in their life and career where they are thinking about what they have to give, not just what they are seeking to gain for themselves, and who are interested in amplifying their own personal social impact by contributing to a team of volunteers and donors who are using technology to create more good in the world.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in regular Board meetings.
  • Serve on our Board of Directors Executive Committee.
  • Responsible for our financial reporting, audit, and payment process that sends donations to other nonprofits from our platform.
  • Hire and manage part-time bookkeeping assistance to assist with QuickBooks entries and payment reconciliations.
  • Select and manage an independent audit firm, subject to approval by our Audit Committee and the overall Board of Directors.
  • Review and design appropriate internal controls, budgeting, and reporting processes based on the size of our organization.
  • Financial commitment: in addition to giving time, each of our National Board of Directors members makes a personal donation and/or fundraises from others in their network to grow Grateful Giving’s programs and impact.
National Board of Directors:
  • Responsible for overall strategy, budget, policies, and governance for the Grateful Giving Foundation.
  • Meets quarterly by Zoom and once per year in-person (travel required).

The Grateful Giving team is remote. This role can be located anywhere in the United States. Because we are a new nonprofit, this is a part-time, flexible volunteer role, not a paid employment position.
