Job summary

A nonprofit organization in Seattle is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to oversee financial health and reporting. Job description

Grassroot Projects is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors. This role oversees the organization’s financial health, ensures accurate reporting, and provides strategic guidance to support our mission of serving children of low-income immigrant and refugee families in the Greater Seattle and Indianapolis areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review financial statements and provide clear reports to the Board.
  • Lead annual budget preparation and support grant/project budgeting.
  • Oversee monthly reconciliations and collaborate with our bookkeeper.
  • Ensure timely filing of tax documents (Form 990).
  • Chair the Finance Committee and provide financial oversight.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit finance, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Previous board or leadership experience preferred.
  • CPA or nonprofit finance experience a plus.
Commitment
  • Approx. 15 hours/month.
  • 2-year term, quarterly board meetings (virtual).
  • Minimum personal contribution of $1000 annually.
