Job description

Dane Street is expanding our physician panel! This is a telework opportunity for supplemental income for physicians providing a caseload customized to your schedule. Our physician panel is comprised of independent contract reviewers (1099) compensated on a per-case basis.

Must hold a Kentucky State Medical license and be Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery.

  • Office location MUST be within 50 miles of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Requirements

As a Physician Reviewer / Advisor for Independent Medical Exams (IME), you will utilize clinical expertise to review insurance appeals, and prospective and retrospective claims. You will interpret the medical necessity of services provided by healthcare professionals, ensuring compliance with client-specific policies, evidence-based guidelines, and standards of care.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Review all medical records and address client questions using specific criteria or recognized evidence-based standards.
  2. Provide clear, concise rationale with adequate supporting documentation for decisions.
  3. Utilize current criteria and resources such as national, state, and professional guidelines, and peer-reviewed literature to support objective decision-making. Avoid using limited sample size case studies or cohorts.
  4. Provide copies of criteria used in reviews along with reports promptly.
  5. Return cases by the due date and time.
  6. Make necessary telephone calls as mandated by state or client requirements.
  7. Maintain proper credentials, licenses, and certifications required for the role.
  8. Attend all required orientations and training sessions.
  9. Perform additional duties such as addressing quality assurance issues, complaints, regulatory concerns, depositions, court appearances, or audits.
  10. Board certification and active practice are required.
