Job summary

Rockbridge County Public School seeks a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to support students with behavioral and social challenges. You will design and implement ABA-based plans, assess behavior, and train staff to apply interventions effectively within an inclusive educational environment.

You will collaborate with teachers, families, and administrators, ensuring data-driven progress and ethical practice.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field is REQUIRED.
• Certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing is REQUIRED.
• Experience conducting FBAs and developing BIPs in educational settings is REQUIRED.
• Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and related laws is REQUIRED.
• Prior experience in K-12 public schools is PREFERRED.
• Training in PBIS, trauma-informed care, and inclusion supports is PREFERRED.

Job Summary

The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavior analysis services and behavior management plans for students exhibiting behavioral and/or social challenges that interfere with learning. The BCBA collaborates with educators, administrators, support staff, and families to assess behavior, develop evidence-based intervention plans, and train staff in implementation. The BCBA ensures all programming aligns with the ethical and professional standards of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and supports inclusive and equitable educational practices.

Essential Job Functions

• Student Support: Foster a safe and inclusive school environment. Address student behavioral issues and implement disciplinary actions as appropriate. Coordinate resources and collaborate with parents to support student success.
• Community Engagement: Collaborate with parents, families, school board members, citizens, community organizations, and stakeholders. Participate in district and community-related events.
• Behavioral Assessment & Intervention: Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) for students exhibiting challenging behaviors. Develop, write, and monitor individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Provide consultation and ongoing support to school staff on ABA strategies and positive behavioral interventions. Collect and analyze data on student behavior and program effectiveness.
• Training & Coaching: Train and coach school personnel (teachers, paraprofessionals, aides) on behavior management techniques, data collection, and behavior support plans. Deliver direct services to students when appropriate and approved by the IEP team.
• Collaboration & Compliance: Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align behavioral goals with academic and social-emotional objectives. Monitor fidelity of BIP implementation and revise plans as needed based on data. Maintain documentation, progress reports, and student records in compliance with district policies and ethical standards. Support crisis response teams in managing and de-escalating behavioral incidents.
• Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in ABA, special education law, and relevant professional development.

Qualifications, Experience, and Education

• Master's degree in applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field. (REQUIRED)
• Certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). (REQUIRED)
• Experience conducting FBAs and developing BIPs in educational settings. (REQUIRED)
• Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and other laws related to special education and student behavior. (REQUIRED)
• Prior experience working in K-12 public schools. (PREFERRED)
• Training and experience in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), trauma-informed care, and inclusion supports. (PREFERRED)
• Familiarity with IEP processes and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. (PREFERRED)

Computer and Equipment Skills

• Advanced skills with Microsoft/Google Platform applications, which may include GMAIL, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or other web-based applications.
• Use of the internet and online teleconferencing software (e.g., Zoom or Teams).
• Ability to navigate web-based programs.
