The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, Inc. (SFNBMBAA) empowers Black professionals, entrepreneurs, and students across Northern California through impactful programs, strategic partnerships, and leadership development. Founded in 1979 and incorporated in 1989, our chapter has a legacy of cultivating business excellence and community advancement. Role Description

We seek dedicated Board and Committee Members to join our volunteer leadership team. This hybrid role supports remote monthly meetings, in-person events, and initiatives across the Bay Area and Northern California. As a Board or Committee Member, you will:

  • Participate in monthly chapter meetings
  • Lead or support chapter programs, events, and activations
  • Engage in strategic planning and partnership development
  • Support fundraising and sponsorship initiatives
  • Promote outreach and engagement with local professionals and students
  • Champion the mission and vision of SFNBMBAA

Please note: You must have an active (financial) membership in the National Black MBA Association before beginning your term in this role.

Qualifications

Board Consideration:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience
  • Prior experience serving on a board or committee within a nonprofit or employee resource group (ERG) is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, and organizational development skills

Committee Consideration:

  • Open to both emerging and experienced professionals
  • Passion for leadership, community engagement, and service
  • Willingness to contribute time, ideas, and energy to support chapter initiatives

Additional Qualifications for All Applicants:

  • Must reside in Northern California, within one of the 10 counties spanning from Sacramento to the San Francisco Bay Area, including Santa Clara County
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
  • Experience in networking, fundraising, event planning, or partnership building is a plus
  • Ability to attend monthly virtual meetings and participate in in-person events
  • Active (financial) membership in the National Black MBA Association is required before starting the role

Residency Requirement:

Applicants must reside in Northern California, specifically within one of the following counties:

  • Alameda
  • San Mateo
  • San Joaquin
  • Solano
  • Yolo
  • Napa

Note: Residency within these counties ensures proximity to in-person chapter events and activities across the Greater Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Area regions.
