BMT Physician, Clinical Engagement (Part-Time) - remote

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for utilizing research and clinical expertise to drive practice change using implementation science to improve patient outcomes and drive equitable access to cell therapy for all eligible patients. To achieve this, there will be a focus on understanding the relevant data and the needs of the transplant center (TC), patient and community to bring the most relevant research and practice changes to each TC. This role will also focus on bridging the gaps that exist between Hematology/Oncology and TCs by providing clinical education and consultation from diagnosis to post transplant. This role will focus on regions that have high underserved patient populations focused on reducing disparities that exist in cellular therapy. To achieve this, there will be a close working relationship with Patient and Provider Services. This is a part-time, remote position (US) that requires 25-50% travel. #LI-Remote
- Key leader in sharing latest research with physicians including data that supports practice change. Executes on the strategy including being a key participant in individual transplant center discussions to leading advisory groups of physicians and key decision makers at the transplant center.
- Meet with Transplant Centers who would benefit from implementing new research and protocols to improve patient outcomes.
- Provide clinical education and consultation to the network through virtual and in person meetings to bring awareness to relevant research such as Donor For All and other clinical trials that are increasing patient access and improving outcomes.
- Operationalize research from CIBMTR with transplant centers and community oncologists in partnership with the Patient and Provider Services department
Community Physician Engagement:
- Support the HLA Today program and Community Physician Engagement Strategy to drive awareness of early referrals with community hematologists/oncologists.
- Provide thought leadership through presentations, webinars and visits discussing education and research and impact to health equity.
- Interact with Community Physicians on referral guidelines and importance of early referrals on improving patient outcomes
Research :
- Participate in research related activities as defined by the Chief Medical Officer and VP CIBMTR and Clinical Services.
- Bring forward research topics that will advance our 5-year strategy.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to:

- Travel is 25%-50%
Education and/or Experience:
- Medical degree and relevant board certification (or equivalent) required.
- A proven medical thought leader with recognized clinical expertise in hematological disorders, cellular therapy, and/or blood and marrow transplantation
- Demonstrated commitment and impact on improving health disparities for cellular therapy
- Minimum of 7-10 years of previous clinical and translational research experience following formal training.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and develop strong working relationships with medical, healthcare and research colleagues in industry, clinical practice, academia, key opinion leaders, and clinical trial sites.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)
- Experience interacting with key national regulatory and accrediting bodies including FDA, HRSA, CMS, FACT, and other relevant organizations.
- Evidence of academic productivity and experience obtaining peer reviewed grant-funded research (e.g., NIH, DoD, other foundations)
