Job summary

Altraize is seeking a BMS System Test/Validation Engineer to support battery management system testing, validation, commissioning, and system performance analysis. You will execute test plans, analyze data, and assist with certification activities to ensure reliable BESS deployment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Controls, Computer Engineering, or related field.
5–10+ years of experience in BMS testing, validation, commissioning, or battery systems engineering.
Hands-on experience with laboratory testing, instrumentation, data acquisition, and debugging of battery systems.
Experience with BESS commissioning, startup, and field troubleshooting.
Familiarity with Jama, DOORS, Jira, or TestRail.
Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or similar data analysis tools.
Knowledge of CAN, SPI, Modbus, and Ethernet protocols.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to interface with customers and teams.
Willingness to travel to customer and project sites for commissioning and investigations.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute BMS validation and verification testing at cell, module, pack, and system levels.
Perform functional, performance, fault-injection, environmental, and stress testing of BMS features.
Analyze test and field data to evaluate SOC, SOH, SOP, cell balancing, fault detection, and protection functions.
Develop, review, and maintain test plans, procedures, and validation reports.
Support testing at internal laboratories and external certification labs (UL, IEC, CSA).
Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, manufacturing, and supplier teams to debug issues and drive corrective actions.
Develop automated testing solutions with emulators to support end-of-line testing.
Perform root-cause analysis of BMS, battery, communication, and system integration issues.
Support site commissioning, startup, and system integration for BESS.
Troubleshoot BMS, communication, and system-level issues during commissioning.
Drive continuous improvement of testing, commissioning, and validation processes.
