Job summary

Hill York seeks an Estimator to join our Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Mechanical teams. You will develop accurate estimates for complex building automation and mechanical systems, working with sales, engineering, operations, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth transitions from estimating to project execution.

This role emphasizes solving technical challenges, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort, with opportunities in retrofits and integration across building systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
• 3–5 years of construction-estimating experience.
• Experience with Mechanical, BMS/BAS systems and HVAC controls.
• Ability to read plans, specs, RFIs, and addenda.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate bid specs and drawings for mechanical and BMS systems.
• Develop accurate takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Prepare subcontractor bid packages and manage vendor quotes.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, operations, and sales.
• Ensure 100% turnover of awarded projects within 24 hours.
• Conduct site visits to support retrofit opportunities.
