Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology, Clinical Engineering, or a closely related technical field from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • At least four years of related practical experience in biomedical equipment technology, clinical engineering, healthcare technology management, or medical-device service/manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical instruction, curriculum, laboratory operations, or related personnel.
  • Technical knowledge of medical equipment operation, troubleshooting, testing, calibration, repair, and electrical safety.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with a commitment to student success.
  • Ability to teach assigned courses and work full-time on-site at the West Palm Beach campus.
  • Satisfactory completion of required background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Lead program development: Develop and maintain curriculum, course materials, laboratory activities, and assessments aligned with current biomedical equipment technology practices.
  • Teach and supervise faculty: Deliver assigned courses; recruit, orient, evaluate, and support faculty; and maintain consistent instructional quality.
  • Manage laboratories and resources: Oversee equipment selection, inventory, maintenance, calibration, safety, and program purchasing within the approved budget.
  • Support student success: Monitor academic progress, retention, graduation, credential preparation, and graduate employment; implement improvements based on results.
  • Coordinate field experiences: Manage externship and capstone partnerships, site selection, student placements, and evaluations.
  • Build employer partnerships: Develop relationships with hospitals, health systems, independent service organizations, and medical-device manufacturers. Lead the Program Advisory Committee and incorporate employer feedback.
  • Maintain program compliance: Oversee program documentation, assessment, and reporting in accordance with applicable accreditation requirements, regulations, and college policies.

Our retained client HCI College seeks a Program Director to launch and lead its Associate of Science in Biomedical Engineering Technology (AS-BMET) program. This role oversees curriculum, faculty, laboratory operations, student outcomes, and industry partnerships to prepare graduates for entry-level careers as Biomedical Equipment Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with ACCSC accreditation, Florida Commission for Independent Education requirements, and program assessment.
  • Experience with networked medical devices, medical-device cybersecurity, and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Established relationships with healthcare technology employers and potential externship partners.

This role involves classroom and laboratory instruction, handling medical and test equipment, periodic travel to partner sites, and occasional evening or weekend responsibilities. Duties may require lifting or moving equipment up to 40 pounds, with reasonable accommodation.
