Job description

Position Description

The Duke University Department of Biomedical Engineering (Duke BME) in the Pratt School of Engineering is seeking applicants for an open tenure-track faculty position in neural engineering. Applications are welcome from investigators at all career stages, but early career researchers including those pursuing their first independent position are particularly encouraged to apply. We encourage applications in the broadly defined areas of neuroscience coupled to technological and biomedical innovation, computational modeling and analysis of the brain at all scales, non-invasive imaging or stimulation of the nervous system, and novel tools and applications for clinical translation. We are open to other areas of neural engineering as well.

Duke BME is a driving force in creating engineering knowledge and novel biomedicaltechnology that improve the human condition through the advancement of clinical care and biomedical science. The Department is within walking distance of Duke University School of Medicine and Duke University Hospital, and we work closely with medical professionals to identify important clinical problems that impact human health and solve them using our technical expertise. Information on the cutting edge, multidisciplinary research and teaching in Duke BME can be found at https://bme.duke.edu/.

Duke University and Duke BME are strongly committed to advancing inclusive excellence throughout our research, teaching, and service activities. For more on Duke BME’s culture and aspirations, see our Strategic Vision: https://bme.duke.edu/about/vision/.

Applicants should have an earned doctorate in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, neuroscience, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.

Duke University is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing employment opportunity without regard to an individual's age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, ethnicity, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy and pregnancy related conditions), sexual orientation, or military status.
