Job summary

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the urgent care team. The RN will provide direct and indirect patient care, perform head-to-toe assessments, and communicate changes in patient condition to providers and the team.

Responsibilities include pain assessment, patient education, and timely lab/testing support as needed. The role requires RN licensure with BLS and a commitment to obtain ACLS/PALS within 6 months.

Qualifications

• RN degree with BLS certification and ACLS/PALS within 6 months of hire.
• 6 months of healthcare experience required; 2–5 years preferred for clinical roles.
• Ability to perform head-to-toe patient assessments and reassess as needed.
• Understanding of medication administration and patient teaching related to pain management.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in Urgent Care under supervision.
• Perform head-to-toe assessments and periodic reassessments per policy.
• Educate patient and family on pain management and treatment plans.
• Interpret waived tests and communicate results to the care team.
• Assist with rapid lab testing and basic radiographic/study support as needed.

He/she communicates with providers/nurse manager/co-workers as appropriate, about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic evaluation and changes in patient condition or symptomatology. The nurse will be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment, and avail his or herself of all training, skills and ability commonly developed through attainment of licensure in their field. This includes: pediatric, geriatric, the general patient population, and EMTALA appropriate medical screening exams.Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.Revises plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment.Performs waived testing (point-of-care testing) per clinical laboratory’s and the patient care unit’s policies and procedures as needed when the lab tech is unavailable and performs tests in a timely manner.Is able to interpret results of waived tests accurately, taking appropriate action on waived tests’ results.Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age.Is knowledgeable of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.Formulates a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.ABOUT MOUNTAIN VIEW:Mountain View Hospital and our 29 affiliate clinics are committed to providing compassionate, cutting edge care to our patients.
