Job summary

The University of Florida Blueberry Breeding and Genomics Lab is seeking motivated individuals to assist with basic molecular work and field activities from now until May 2027, with potential extension based on performance. Duties span molecular lab tasks and field trials on main campus in Gainesville, FL.

Expect 20-40 hours per week at a rate of $15 per hour, with 8-hour shifts and weekday scheduling, in a part-time role tied to the blueberry season.

Responsibilities

• Be available to work in 8-hour shifts (Weekdays 8:00AM - 5:00PM).
• Conduct basic molecular work, such as DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, gene cloning and transformation.
• Work outdoors or greenhouse in various weather conditions.
• Assist with the collection of field samples and breeding seasonal work.
• Load and unload field sample equipment and coolers from the truck bed.
• Collect and document data accurately.
• Be flexible with sudden changes to the schedule.
