We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

This role is part of the Blue National Security Business Unit supporting the Blue Ring program. As a part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will own significant scopes of electrical integration and test efforts for various space vehicles. This includes validating the integration of electrical subsystems into a spacecraft, collaborating on the development of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), and participating in launch operations. In a fast-paced, dynamic environment, you will architect the functional test program, develop test plans, author test procedures, collaborate on spacecraft script development, and coordinate across product teams to ensure the successful test campaigns of integrated spacecraft. You will lead elements of electrical test execution during vehicle integration, all the way through final testing in preparation for launch.

You will contribute to optimally completing major test campaigns, including planning, writing test plans and procedures, developing test equipment, and compiling test reports. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Plan, architect, and coordinate the resources vital to execute the testing of spacecraft electrical systems.
  • Test spacecraft flight hardware and integrated spacecraft.
  • Conduct test design reviews, integration readiness reviews, and test readiness reviews for your events.
  • Coordinate with design engineer subject matter experts across each affected system under test to integrate the identified system verification requirements into the detailed test plan for the development risk reduction and/or verification run for record event as appropriate.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule, and technical risks.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area.
  • 3+ years of relevant, post-graduation, experience in specified engineering field(s).
  • Proven track record conducting tests on aerospace flight hardware for NASA, Commercial Space, or Department of Defense (DoD) Missile Systems.
  • Experience working with flight hardware in a production facility or laboratory.
  • Experience developing test infrastructure drawings, configuring test articles, and conducting testing of spacecraft articles with an emphasis on electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, engineering industry standards, and technical requirements.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and reduction and present technical information in a clear and compelling visual format.
  • Strong safety demeanor and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Spacecraft/Missile launch preparation testing and/or launch console operation.
  • Experience with analytical and scripting tools: MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, Open C3, Ruby, or C++.
  • Experience developing and maintaining test scripts.
  • Experience developing test programs for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) labs or Software Integration Labs (SIL).
  • Experience with requirements development/management tools; Windchill, DOORS, DOORS Next Gen, and lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data.
  • Experience conducting thermal, vibration, shock, and/or vacuum testing on flight hardware in accordance with MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, and MIL-STD-1540.
  • Experience developing Test Equipment Systems for flight avionics or Integrated System tests.
  • Experience with System Integration Testing, Electrical Test, Component Testing, Environmental Test, or Propulsion Test of space flight hardware.
