Job Overview

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) seeks a Blue Ports (Infrastructure and Environment) Specialist to support sustainable port development in India. The role involves assessing infrastructure, integrating eco-friendly practices, and facilitating stakeholder collaboration to enhance climate resilience and environmental sustainability in fishing ports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct infrastructure assessments of fishing ports, including terminals, landing sites, access routes, and environmental management systems.
  • Analyze port capacity for renewable energy, digitalization, and climate resilience, ensuring compliance with international standards.
  • Develop strategic infrastructure improvement plans aligned with sustainability and resilience goals.
  • Integrate best practices in eco-friendly construction, renewable energy, and smart port technologies.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement through workshops and consultations.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and monitoring frameworks to evaluate infrastructure projects.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with at least 15 years of relevant experience in marine infrastructure projects emphasizing environmental sustainability.
