Job summary

UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is seeking a casual BLS Instructor to support the Education team. The instructor will plan and execute American Heart Association BLS Programs and directly teach students enrolled in AHA BLS and First Aid programs.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, delivering material per AHA guidelines, developing quizzes, evaluating student work, and ensuring compliance with training standards. This is a casual teaching position in Pittsburgh.

• Maintain student and class records in a standardized manner.
• Begin and end all classes on time. Do not reschedule without the CTC Coordinator's approval.
• Cover all material assigned by the CTC Coordinator in accordance with the AHA Guidelines.
• Develop and administer regular quizzes and homework assignments.
• Provide students with constructive feedback, direction, and counseling.
• Grade all quizzes, examinations, and student assignments in a timely manner.
• Preview all examinations prior to administration.
• Administer standardized examinations as scheduled.
• Conduct class in accordance with Center, State, Federal and AMA training standards.
• Monitor students' progress and provide supplemental instruction or tutoring as needed.
• Serve as a role model for professional attitudes and behavior.

Purpose:

This instructor position will assist the CTC Coordinator in the planning and execution of all American Heart Association BLS Programs. They will be responsible for direct classroom instruction of students enrolled in AHA BLS and First Aid Programs.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain student and class records in a standardized manner.
• Begin and end all classes on time. Under no circumstances should classes be rescheduled without the approval of the CTC Coordinator.
• Cover all of the material assigned by the CTC Coordinator in accordance with the AHA Guidelines. If you are unable to cover all of the material, inform the CTC Coordinator as early as possible to assure that other arrangements can be made.
• Develop and administer regular quizzes and homework assignments.
• Provide students with constructive feedback, direction, and counseling.
• Grade all quizzes, examinations, and student assignments in a timely manner.
• Preview all examinations prior to administration.
• Administer standardized examinations as scheduled.
• Conduct your class in accordance with all Center, State, Federal and AMA training standards.
• Monitor the students' progress and provide reasonable supplemental instruction and/or individual tutoring if students are having difficulty with the course content. Inform the Academic Coordinator when individual students are failing to make satisfactory academic progress.
• Serve as a role model for professional attitudes and behavior.
