Job summary

Silgan Plastics in Kentucky is seeking a Plant Supervisor to lead setup and start-up activities in a blow molding environment. You will manage direct reports, coordinate with management and shift supervision to ensure production runs smoothly and efficiently.

The role requires 3–5 years in a blow molding facility, experience with Bekum/SIG/Sabmann machinery, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and cost control. Excellent communication and training skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; must read, write and speak English.
• 3–5 years in a blow molding facility, preferably with shuttle equipment.
• Experience with set-up, mold changes, and tooling optimization.
• Knowledge of safety, attendance, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Promote and execute safe work practices across the Ottawa facility.
• Manage the set-up department to ensure timely and accurate set ups.
• Identify mold issues and communicate changes to optimize tooling and processes.
• Approve engineering changes on new tooling/mold with plant PDE.
• Maintain daily change listings and report results to plant manager monthly.
• Lead process technicians and set-up personnel, collaborating with shift supervisors, operators, and quality personnel.
• Coordinate with PDEs on new projects and ensure line components are available.
• Manage mold, head, barrel, and screw inventory and maintain setup documentation.
• Train new employees and operators to ensure standards and efficiency.
• Collaborate with customer service, scheduling, engineering, and manufacturing to plan upcoming jobs.
• Evaluate non-performing jobs and drive to standard with relevant personnel.
• Provide off-hours plant support as needed.
• Monitor attendance and performance of direct reports.
