Job summary

The American Red Cross in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Distribution Technician to handle blood products for hospital orders. You will triage by date/time, pack with proper temperature control, and maintain traceable records.

This is a second‑shift role (Sun–Thu, 4pm–12am) with a pay rate of $18.73/hr plus a $2.25 shift differential. Benefits include medical, dental and vision plans, Health Savings Accounts, PTO, holidays, and a 401(k) with employer match.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years’ experience in a regulatory, distribution or manufacturing environment preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills.
  • Position may require a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, process, pack and ship blood products/samples for hospital orders.
  • Triage the order based on date and time needed; select and pack with correct temperature regulation.
  • Communicate with hospital clients, volunteers and vendors; maintain product records for traceability.
  • Perform data entry for manufacturing, labeling, storage, ordering and shipping; maintain records.
  • Identify and quarantine products that don’t meet quality requirements; may make hospital deliveries.

You will communicate with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors, and maintain product records to preserve traceability. Interact in a positive, proactive, and customer-focused manner with both internal and external customers, demonstrating care and compassion at all times. ***WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD:*** ***Key Responsibilities*** * Ensure products/samples are suitable for release for distribution, while meeting production goals.* Perform good inventory management practices throughout the manufacturing and shipping process* Prioritize workload to meet production and customer requirements.* Perform data entry associated with further manufacturing, labeling, storage, ordering, and shipping; maintain and review accurate physical and electronic manufacturing records* Analyze and make decisions based on visual inspection and information provided from other departments to meet time requirements and quality standards.* Identify and quarantine products/samples that don’t meet quality requirements, and perform disposition of unacceptable product* May make hospital deliveries as assigned*The aforementioned responsibilities of the Distribution Technician describe the general nature and level of work and are not an exhaustive list.* **Standard Schedule**: This is a second shift position working Sunday – Thursday 4pm–12am. **Pay Information**: $18.73 per hour plus a shift differential of $2.25 per hour ***WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:*** * High School diploma or equivalent* Two years’ experience in a regulatory, distribution or manufacturing environment is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience* Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills.* Position may require a valid driver’s license ***Physical Requirements:*** Requires standing, stretching, stooping and bending for extended time periods. Lift, pull, push and move objects of up to 50 pounds. May work in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for periods of time.
