Job summary

Inova Health in Sterling, VA is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician Assistant 1 to join our Blood Donor Services team. This full-time day position operates Monday–Friday with every other weekend, 06:00 am to 1:30 pm, and training from 1:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Responsibilities include receiving, processing, labeling, and shipping blood products, performing thorough visual inspections to ensure product quality, and operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• Preferred: Previous lab processing experience.
• Preferred: 6 months’ experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, store, and package specimens per lab protocols to preserve integrity.
• Communicate effectively with team and stakeholders to optimize performance.
• Handle patient registration/billing/test orders to ensure correct testing and billing.
• Perform proper specimen collection and accurate labeling per policy.
• Provide excellent patient and customer service using AIDET and ensure accurate results.
