Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Blood Donor Tech to obtain medical histories from donors, determine donor suitability and collect blood products for transfusion. You will perform phlebotomy and apheresis as required, ensuring donor safety and accurate documentation.

Rotating weekends are required; the role supports a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth within the Blood Donor Program.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain accurate and complete medical history from donors and assess donor suitability.
• Perform phlebotomy and apheresis procedures following SOPs.
• Monitor donor safety, comfort and signs of adverse reactions; seek nursing/medical input when needed.
• Label, prepare, and complete all containers, samples, labels and forms.
• Enter donor and donation information into computer, ensuring accuracy.
• Monitor and stock supplies; alert staff when re-order levels are reached.
• Communicate with donors, patients, families and coworkers with professionalism and respect.
• Participate in regular quality control and continuous improvement efforts.
