Job Description

Blood Component Manufacturing Technician (Union)

In this role, you will be manufacturing blood products and samples. You will process blood units received from donors, including scanning, processing into transfusable components (red cells, platelets, plasma), and leukoreducing.

As a Red Cross team member, you will care for your team, show up for every shift, and interact positively with internal and external customers, demonstrating care and compassion at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet quality and quantity production goals, maintain accurate documentation
  • Perform inventory management throughout manufacturing and distribution
  • Perform data entry and operate related computer programs
  • Analyze visual inspections and information to meet deadlines
  • Perform complex manufacturing tasks such as pooled product manufacturing, freezing, washing, or deglycerolizing blood products, and pathogen reduction
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers, vendors, and volunteers
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule including weekends and holidays
Schedule

Full Time; Tuesday- Saturday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Training

First 4-6 weeks, regular daytime hours (8:00 am - 4:30 pm). Full-time paid training for the first 4 weeks.

Pay

$19.23 hourly rate plus shift differential for weekend hours ($2.00 more per hour on Saturdays).

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience
  • Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, decision-making skills
  • Good communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team
Physical Requirements

Standing, stretching, stooping, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in walk-in refrigerator/freezers, wearing protective clothing.
