Job summary

The American Red Cross in Houston is seeking a Blood Collection Supervisor to lead the donor-facing team, ensure high-quality donor experiences, and maintain safety and compliance. Paid phlebotomy training is provided to grow skills within the nation’s top humanitarian organization.

The ideal candidate brings strong supervisory abilities, excellent customer service, and clear communication with diverse donors and staff while fostering a respectful, high-performance culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and work experience (four to eight years of work experience in a related field) is required.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
  • An ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families and physicians needed.
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
  • Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required.
  • Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
  • Basic computer skills are desirable

Job Overview

When you join our team as a Blood Collection Supervisor you will use your leadership, compassion and customer service skills to lead our blood collection team to going above and beyond ensuring that all donors have the best experience possible. Our Supervisors drive for results and serve others with a high level of respect for our staff and the donors we value. Standard Schedule

To best meet the needs of our donors and community, staff work a variable schedule which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be required in some locations. Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
  • Prior leadership experience exceeding 3 years in a healthcare setting
