Job summary

American Red Cross is seeking a Blood Collection Supervisor to lead our blood collection team with compassion and a focus on donor experience. This role offers growth within the nation’s top humanitarian organization and involves coordinating staff while ensuring top-quality donor care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience (four to eight years in related field) is required.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
  • Physical requirements may include lifting/pushing heavy weights, long hours, and variable schedules.
  • Basic computer skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise blood collection staff, including training and performance.
  • Drive for results and to serve others with a high level of respect for customer service.
  • Take time to connect with donors—listen to their stories and explain the value of their donation.

Standard Schedule:
  • To best meet the needs of our donors andcommunity,staffworkavariable schedulewhich may includeearly mornings, late nights, weekends,and holidays.Overnight travel may berequiredin some locations.
  • Schedule is providedtwo to threeweeks in advance
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED(Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience (four to eight years of work experience in a related field)isrequired
  • Minimumofthreeyears of supervisory/leadership experience
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills arerequired.An abilityto effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families and physicians needed.
  • A current, valid driver's license witha gooddrivingrecord isrequired.
  • Physical requirements may include the ability to lift,pushor pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand forlong periodsof time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changesarerequired.Position may requirea minimumheight of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safelyoperateRed Cross vehicles.
  • At the American Red Cross, we conduct many mobile blood drives at businesses,schoolsand many other locations. All staff work as a team to setup and tear down the equipmentrequiredto conduct a mobile blood drive.
  • Basic computer skills are desirable

  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience(CNA, MA, EMT,etc.)
  • Prior leadership experienceexceeding3years inahealthcare setting
